By the Bay Museum
The By The Bay Museum & Craft Shop is owned and operated by the Lewisporte & Area Heritage Society. It is located in the old West end school built in 1945. Overlooking the harbour, the museum contains several exhibits related to the logging, medical, railway and marine transportation industries. The museum includes a World War I & II exhibit, as well as a display which highlights the contribution of local women. Unique features include a 28 foot hooked rug, a set of Blue Puttees, two Newfoundland wooden boats & an Oral History collection, etc..
