It's that time of year to renew your membership with MANL. Your membership form has been sent out for you to complete and mail back to us. If you did not receive the form you can download a copy here. Please be sure to include all required information such as physical address, mailing address, organization name, phone number, etc. We also encourage you to include your email address, in order for you to receive our weekly listserv that features updates on upcoming workshops and events. After we have received your completed membership form and payment, we will send you your new membership card and official membership letter. Preventive Conservation Workshop

Saturday and Sunday, 23 - 24 May 2015; 9:00 – 4:00

In this workshop participants will explore the basic principles of conservation within the context of a museum setting to develop an understanding of the museum's responsibility in developing priorities for collections care. They will learn about the common causes of damage to artifacts, develop skills in preventive conservation both in a storage and exhibit environment and the use of environmental monitoring equipment. Other topics include conservation condition reports and the ethics of restoration and conservation. This workshop will include:
• lectures and discussions
• hands-on demonstrations and exercises in handling and storage of a variety of museum artifacts • a review of conservation condition reporting.
